COUNSELLING AND CREATIVE ARTS THERAPY FOR CHILDREN
CHILD COUNSELLING SESSIONS
In Child Counselling Sessions, children establish a warm and respectful relationship with the therapist that provides them with a sense of safety and freedom. This enables them to express, explore, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their experiences. Through this special relationship, the child experiences a sense of their inherent value and learns new ways of relating to others that are kind, respectful, and more satisfying and rewarding.
Learning occurs through direct engagement with the therapist, with opportunities for expression through play and the creative arts depending on the child’s age, preference and stage of development.
CREATIVE ARTS THERAPY FOR CHILDREN
Creative Arts Therapy is a therapeutic approach that provides children with the opportunity to express themselves through the creative arts and play. These are easy, natural forms of expression for children that allow them to work through challenging or traumatic experiences with the gentle support and guidance of the therapist. Children learn to understand and accept themselves, developing a sense of inner strength, empowerment, and resilience.
As part of the therapeutic process, feedback is provided to parents, carers, teachers and other important people in the child's life, so they can support their optimal growth and development.
